Abstract
The first edition of the Positive Intelligent Media (PiM) workshop brings together scholars and practitioners with a shared interest in interactive intelligent hypertext systems for health, wellbeing and resilience. The PiM workshop will provide the opportunity to develop a common agenda for this new field and define the research objectives around computational methods for steering positive use, evaluation methods, and applications of positive systems. The workshop hosts an open forum to identify common challenges and themes to inform a white paper and a community manifesto.

1 INTRODUCTION
1.1 Topics and Goals
PiM workshop takes an interdisciplinary perspective on interactive intelligent hypertext systems for health, well-being and resilience, bringing together computer science, digital health and health humanities communities. The workshop looks at fundamental questions about how to incorporate a positive vision within interactive media and intelligent systems [1]. Relevant topics include (but are not limited to):
Applications of positive systems and personal informatics
Positive computing applications and techniques
Barriers to adoption of digital health solutions
Narrative and bibliotherapy approaches
Innovative use of interactive media for well-being and supporting self-management
Conversational agents for personalised care and remote monitoring
1.2 Relevance of the workshop to the Hypertext communities
This workshop aims to be a platform for the community to investigate a growing crucial application of hypertext systems in the field of formal and informal healthcare and the improvement of quality of life. This field has been underrepresented within HT, while specialised communities make wide use of hypertext solutions. As such, the workshop aims to make this wide domain known to the HT and develop a research agenda that can fuel the community for the years to come.
2 SCHEDULE AND ACTIVITIES
The workshop will be organised as an open forum introduced by a short report about positive computing and the challenges of assessing future technologies. The workshop aims at defining the common challenges including problem definitions and fundamental questions. In the next half-day, the workshop will provide the opportunity for developing project proposals and ideas for collaborative research bids. The workshop will run during a parallel session of the HT’24 conference and be open to participation.
2.1 Plans for further publication
The workshop plans to produce a white paper and journal paper that reflects the work of the workshop.
3 PROGRAM COMMITTEE
Both workshop organizers have a strong background in digital health and well-being.
Dr Alessio Antonini is a Research Fellow in the Knowledge Media Institute at The Open University. His activities combine the study of reading with digital health applications and digital innovation for communities and multi-stakeholder ecosystems.
Dr Iman Naja is a Research Associate in the Knowledge Media Institute at The Open University in Digital Health. Her research focuses on supporting self-management and semantic technologies for digital innovation.
